Wild Berries x Stubai: Snowboarding and Camping in May

We couldn’t get enough of winter this season so we came up with the plan do to a short spring snowboarding trip to Austria. In just few short days it was all organized and we were headed to the Stubai Glacier in Tyrol.

Stubai is the largest glacier ski zone in Austria that guarantees snow and good times from October to August. The top terminal of the resort is located at 3210m. and allows  visitors to sneak-a-peak at the breathtaking view of over 109 summits over 3000m. No wonder they named the panorama terrace Top of Tyrol.

Even though Stubai is just 45min. south of Innsbruck (one of our favorite cities in Europe), we felt adventurous and decided to go camping in the beautiful Stubaital valley instead.

As impossible as our plan looked at the time because of the low temperatures and new snow in the mountains, loaded with tons of enthusiasm and low-temp sleeping bags, we decided to go for it and put up our tents in the campsite of the little and coisy city of Neustift.

Surprisingly for us, it turned out that we’re not the only ones with the same plan and at the campsite we bumped into Jacco Bosa Dutch snowboarder we met couple of months ago in Bulgaria during the Red Bull Fragments 2016 event (have a look at his interview here). Except for being one of the fresh names in the European freestyle snowboarding scene you’ll be hearing more and more about, Jacco is also a super nice and cheerful person so our accidental meeting was a happy coincidence for us. The world’s small! :)

Jacco told us he traveled all the way from Holland to Austria to film the season ender of his web series “Daily Chaos” in the world renowned freestyle park of the resort – Stubai Zoo.

We decided to join the boys for the riding and have fun together while they were filming.

This is how Stubai welcomed us on day 1. Such a perfect day! :)

Despite the bad forecast from the previous days, we spent 2 perfect bluebird days at the glacier. We were so stoked to finally get to ride at Stubai Zoo – the park has easy, medium and pro lines and you shouldn’t be surprised if you get to meet some of the pro’s you’re following on Instagram in there. We loved how many and cool people we met at the t-bar of the park while going for the next run.

The perfect weather conditions were not only great for snowboarding, but for camping too so everyday after riding we’d spend few hours barefoot at the campsite, enjoying the surrounding views, our little snowboarding mess and a glass of wine.

To give you a real taste of how our days felt, you need to check out the "Daily Chaos" Jacco and the boys filmed. Let us just tell you being there was exactly (if not more) fun than the video itself. Enjoy! :)

We’d like to send a huge shout out and THANK YOU message to everyone at Stubai Gletscher for the support and remind you all that Stubai will be opened till the 29th of May… So if you really feel like riding after seeing the Daily Chaos (which we’re pretty sure will be the case) make sure to organize your trip now and spend few more days out there.
